Walk and Ride for Charity

Three charity events took place during 2013's South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival, which ran from Saturday 7th September to Sunday 22nd September.

On September 15th, walkers could choose between two events in one location. Both walks in the Huddersfield Rotary Club's 'Pub to Pub' event started at the Old Bridge Hotel in Holmfirth and ended up at the Nook Brewery. One walk involved a seven mile loop via Digley Reservoir and The Fleece at Holme, and the other was a short stroll across the road from the start to the finish! Participants in both 'Pub to Pub' walks raised funds for Disaster Aid.

For cyclists there were two major charity events - the Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge, raising money for Sue Ryder, and the Moor Power Mountain Bike Challenge in aid of Dementia UK.

The Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge took place on September 22nd and included three rides: the challenging 26 mile 'Charlotte' route, the 21 mile 'Emily', and the 11 mile 'Anne'

The Moor Power Mountain Bike Challenge was a tough 20 mile ride taking in the best of the South Pennines bridleways with lung-busting climbs and exhilarating downhills. It took place on September 8th, starting from Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough.
