Time Detectives – Investigating the Prehistory of the South Pennines

Young and old alike enjoyed an afternoon of exploring the prehistory of the South Pennines as part of the Europa Nostra Laureate celebrations and the Council for British Archaeology’s Festival of British Archaeology.

Over 150 people visited the grounds of the Manor House Museum, Ilkley on a sunny July afternoon.  Activities included exploring the enigmatic rock carvings across Rombalds Moor with members of the CSI: Rombalds Moor team, and discovering the art of flint knapping with Karl Lee of Primitive Technologies. Visitors also tried their hand at archaeology with Kidz Digz, had a go at identifying a variety of mystery archaeological finds, and had the opportunity to learn about the community archaeology projects and meet some of the project’s fantastic volunteers.
