Pennine Prospects Walk and Ride Festival

September 10th – September 25th 2011

The South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival has helped to establish the South Pennines as an absolute gem that can match many better known areas when it comes to stunning scenery and outdoor activity. Moreover, our excellent public transport means that many people can enjoy the countryside but are able to leave their car at home. If you are interested in exploring this area throughout the year go to for walking, cycling and horseriding routes for all abilities.

At present we are putting together the fourth South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival programme for 2011. Our theme for this year’s festival is locally produced food and drink, so there will be an emphasis on events that involve local producers in some way – perhaps a walk to a local cheese producer, a cycle ride that ends at a local brewery, a horse ride with a pub lunch for the riders! There will also be more events for children and young people, for them to try new activities such as mountain biking and horse riding, all in the fantastic setting of the South Pennines.

Many event leaders have said they will be back, bigger and better, in 2011! So go to and get the full details from May of this year.
